CANES TRAVEL TO DURHAM TO BATTLE BLUE DEVILS

-Miami travels to Wallace Wade Stadium to face off against ACC Coastal Division foe Duke on Saturday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (ESPNU).
-The Hurricanes carry a commanding 10-2 all-time series lead against Duke, including a 5-1 mark in Durham. UM won the 2014 matchup between the schools, a 22-10 decision at Sun Life Stadium.
-Duke, ranked No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll & No. 22 by the Associated Press, represent Miami’s third ranked opponent of 2015; the Hurricanes played at No. 8/12 Florida State on Oct. 10 and played No. 6/6 Clemson last weekend (Oct. 31).
-Interim head coach Larry Scott will be coaching his first game at the helm of the Hurricanes; former head coach Al Golden was relieved of his duties on Sunday, Oct. 25.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Heading into the eighth week of the college football season, the Hurricanes rank among the top 10 in five national statistical categories. The Canes are also rank second nationally in turnover margin.

YIPPEE KAAYA
-Sophomore QB Brad Kaaya remains near the top of the ACC in a number of individual categories, including passing yards (1,846, first), passing yards per game (263.7, first) and total offense (1,789 yards, fourth).
-Kaaya has thrown just five interceptions in his last 431 attempts. He has thrown for more than 200 yards in 14 of his 20 career games at Miami and has five career 300-yard performances.
-Kaaya’s career home numbers (11 games) stand out: 2,719 passing yards, 24 TDs & just 6 INTs.
-Kaaya set personal bests in completions (29), attempts (49) and pass yards (405) at Florida State (Oct. 10), tossing three touchdowns with no interceptions. His passer efficiency rating was 148.8.
-Kaaya’s 405 yards were the most by a Miami quarterback vs. Florida State in the modern era of Miami football (since 1980), and represent just the 11th 400-yard game in that same timespan.
-The California native was one of only 15 quarterbacks in the country to throw for more than 3,000 yards, 26-or-more touchdowns and 12-or-fewer interceptions in 2014; he was the only true freshman quarterback in the country to accomplish this feat.
-As a freshman in 2014, Kaaya was named the ACC Offensive and ACC Overall Rookie of the Year after a stellar first campaign with the Hurricanes.
-Kaaya ranked second in the ACC in passing yards (3,198), and led the ACC in passing touchdowns (26), passing efficiency (145.9) and passing yards per completion (14.5) during his freshman year.

GREAT SCOTT
-After missing the entire 2014 campaign with an injury, redshirt senior wide receiver Rashawn Scott has made a strong return to Miami’s wide receiver corps in 2015.
-Scott ranks third in the ACC in receiving yards per game heading into the ninth week of the season, averaging 66.7 yards. The redshirt senior has started all seven games in 2015 and leads the team in receptions (35), receiving yards (467) and receiving touchdowns (4).
-Scott ranks fifth in the ACC in receptions per game (5.0) and fifth in total receptions (35).
-The Melbourne, Fla., native had his second career multi-TD game (2) vs. Virginia Tech on Oct. 17.

THIRD TIME’S A CHARM
-Miami’s defensive unit has made a habit this season of dominating the third quarter.
-In seven games this season, Miami has outscored its opponents by a 44-13 count and has allowed just one touchdown in third quarters.
-Hurricane opponents have averaged just 62.5 yards of total offense in the third quarter.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
-Miami’s +11 turnover margin is second-best in FBS; its five turnovers lost are sixth-fewest.
-Miami’s defense has recorded 11 interceptions on 207 pass attempts (one every 18.8 attempts).
-Miami’s defensive unit held Bethune-Cookman to just 79 yards in its 2015 season opener and tallied its first shutout since 2010.
