@CanesFutbol Trips to No. 12/7 Virginia Tech
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After completing a four-match homestand Sunday with a double overtime victory against NC State, the University of Miami soccer team is headed away from home once again.
The Hurricanes are set to take on No. 12/7 Virginia Tech Saturday at 7 p.m. at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Va. The match will be the first on the road for Miami (5-8-0, 2-4-0 ACC) since Sept. 24 at Louisville, a span of 23 days.
Three of the four matches during the Hurricanes’ homestand went to double overtime, with Miami coming away victorious in two of them. Both golden goals came off the foot of junior forward Gracie Lachowecki, who has won ACC Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks and is the only person to do so this season.
Each of Miami’s last five matches has been decided by one goal and eight of the team’s 13 in total have been one-tally decisions. The Hurricanes are 3-5 in those eight contests, but have split the last six, including taking two of the past three.
The Hokies enter Saturday’s affair at 12-2-1 on the season, with a 4-2-0 mark in ACC play. Virginia Tech went 16-6-0 (5-5-0 ACC) in 2014 and made the NCAA Championship for the seventh-straight season, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in the last six years.
