@CanesFutbol Caps Homestand against NC State
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team wraps up its four-match homestand Sunday afternoon when it faces NC State.
The Hurricanes and Wolfpack will square off at 1 p.m. on Alumni Day at Cobb Stadium. Former Miami players in attendance at the match will be honored on the field during halftime.
Miami (4-8-0, 1-4-0 ACC) is riding an eight-match unbeaten streak against NC State, posting a 6-0-2 record since 2007. That is the Hurricanes’ longest active streak against any ACC opponent.
Each of Miami’s last four matches this season has been decided by one goal, including two in double overtime. Overall, the Hurricanes have had seven one-goal decisions this year, with three going to a second session of extra time.
Reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week Gracie Lachowecki, a junior forward, leads Miami with five goals this season, more than any Hurricane tallied in 2014. Senior forward Amy Schmidt paces head coach Mary-Frances Monroe’s team in points (13) and assists (five), both of which are also more than any player posted last year.
NC State enters this weekend with a 4-9-0 record on the season, including a 0-4-0 mark in ACC play. The Wolpfack went 2-15-1 (0-10-0 ACC) in 2014.
