Andrews Battles to Pre-Qual Round of 64
TULSA, Okla. – University of Miami junior Max Andrews split a pair of matches Sunday in the 2015 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships held in Tulsa, Okla.
Andrews opened the day by defeating Nathan Roper from Oklahoma State in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 to move on to the prequalifying Round of 64. In that match, Andrews battled Leopold Gomez Islinger of Green Bay to three sets, but came up short, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
Qualifying matches begin on Oct. 5 and main draw contests get underway on Oct. 8. The singles and doubles finals are scheduled for Oct. 12.
Sophomore Christian Langmo is participating in the singles qualifier bracket on Monday. He opens play at 8 a.m. against Ricardo Jorge, seeded in the 17-24 group, from Mississippi.
Sophomore No. 45 Piotr Lomacki will compete in the main draw singles event beginning Thursday, and will pair up with Andrews in the doubles qualifier draw, which begins Monday.
This marks the 11th straight year that the University of Tulsa will serve as the official tournament host, and most of the action during the two-week event will take place on the courts of the Michael D. Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 12-15, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
