Langmo To Play for Championship at UVA
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – On Sunday University of Miami sophomore Christian Langmo will play for the championship of the 10th Annual UVa Ranked 1+1 Invitational, held at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va.
Classmate No. 45 Piotr Lomacki is playing in the third place match and junior Max Andrews is in the consolation final of the event. Lomacki and Andrews paired to win the consolation final of the doubles event on Saturday.
Langmo picked up a pair of three-set wins over ranked players on Saturday to advance to the finals. He opened the day with a win over No. 90 William Bushamuka of Kentucky, downing the Wildcat, 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-4. In his second match, Langmo took down No. 125 Mac Styslinger of Virginia, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The Boca Raton, Fla., native will face No. 115 Alexander Ritschard of Virginia in the championship match at 10 a.m.
Sophomore Lomacki defeated unranked Matt Barry from Penn State, 6-2, 6-4 in his first match of the day, but came up short, 6-4, 6-7, 7-5, in a three-set match against No. 115 Alexander Ritschard (Virginia). Lomacki will play in the third-place match at 10 a.m. against No. 125 Mac Styslinger (Virginia).
Andrews will play in the consolation final on Sunday at 11:15 a.m., after winning a pair of matches on Saturday. Andrews, who transferred to Miami from Rice, defeated Julian Bradley (UNF), 7-5, 6-4, then took down Aws Laaribi (Penn State), 6-2, 7-6.
No. 48 pair Piotr Lomacki and Max Andrews won the consolation final at the event, downing Jai Corbett and Aaron Gomez (Virginia Tech), 8-5.
The Canes wrap up play at the UVa Ranked 1+1 Invitational on Sunday.
