@HurricanesGolf Ninth After Two Rounds at McGuire Invite
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Miami women’s golf team sits in ninth place after two rounds of play at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The Hurricanes opened the day with a two round score of 11-over-par, 595.
The two-day event is being held at the par 73, 6,315-yard UNM Championship Course.
Junior Delfina Acosta paced the Hurricanes during day one competition as she finished five-under-par. Accosta was two-over-par in round one, but responded in a big way during round two as she carded a seven-under-par 66 and finished the afternoon with a two-round total of 141.
The Argentina native totaled two bogeys and 16 pars in round one. Her second round featured eight birdies. She also birdied holes nine, 10 and 11 to position herself in the top five, heading into the final round.
Acosta begins final round competition just one stroke behind Mariah Stackhouse from Stanford (140).
Fellow junior Daniela Darquea also placed in the top 15 after two rounds thanks to a day one total of 145. Darquea opened the tournament by posting a first round score of three-under-par 70. She then closed the day with a two-over-par score of 75.
Stanford holds the overall team lead after it fired a day one total of 566.
