@CanesFutbol Opens Road Swing at FAU
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team will continue its six-match stretch against Sunshine State opponents Friday night at Florida Atlantic.
The Hurricanes and Owls are set to meet at 7:00 p.m. at FAU Soccer Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. This is the third-straight year the teams will face off, with the visiting side winning each of the past two seasons.
For Miami (0-3-0), the match is the first of three-consecutive road tilts against in-state schools. It will also be the team’s first true road match of the season, after its contest at the College of Charleston was cancelled due to weather. The match will serve as the home opener for Florida Atlantic (3-1-0).
The Hurricanes have scored five goals in their past two matches, all after halftime against teams either ranked or receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. Eighteen different players have seen action for Miami thus far, a third of whom are freshmen on third-year head coach Mary-Frances Monroe’s team.
Florida Atlantic opened the season by winning its first three matches for the first time in 12 years, before falling 2-0 at fourth-ranked Texas A&M Sunday. The Owls are coming off a 7-9-4 (2-5-3 C-USA) campaign in 2014.
