Riquna Williams Named to WNBA All-Star Game
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami alumna Riquna Williams of the Tulsa Shock was announced Thursday as a WNBA All-Star.
Williams, in her fourth year in the league, was one of three players tabbed as an injury replacement for the Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star Game 2015, being held Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
A 5-foot-7 guard, Williams is the first Hurricane ever to be named a WNBA All-Star. She is No. 12 in the league in scoring this year at 14.7 points per game and her 1.56 steals an outing rank eighth in the WNBA. Additionally, Williams checks in at No. 14 in three-point field goal percentage, at a 37.4 percent clip.
In 2013 Williams was named the WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year and set the league’s single game scoring record with 51 points in a contest. As a Hurricane, she was also a tremendous scoring threat, finishing her career at Miami fifth on the program’s all-time scoring list with 2,148 points.
A native of Pahokee, Fla., Williams played at Miami from 2008-12 and was a part of the first ACC regular season championship in team history in 2011. She was twice named First Team All-ACC and was an AP Third Team All-American as a senior.
