Lomacki Wins Polish U21 Championships
POZNAN, Poland – Rising University of Miami sophomore Piotr Lomacki won the Junior Polish Championship U-21 in both doubles and singles July 10 in Poznan, Poland.
Lomacki, from Warsaw, Poland, defeated Max Steinberger (6-4, 6-3) on the first day, then downed Lukasz Chmielewski (6-2, 6-3) in the second round. He also won his doubles match that day, 6-0, 6-3, pairing with Kamil Gajewski against Sebastian Chojnowski and Cyprian Owczarz. He made quick work on the third day, winning his singles match 6-1, 6-1 against Viktor Kostin and earning a 6-3, 6-0 doubles win over Filip Kaleta and Maciej Kazanowski.
After defeating Szymon Walkow (6-2, 6-2) in singles on Thursday, he downed Adrian Andrzejczuk, 6-4, 6-1, to take home the singles title. On the last two days of doubles, he beat Arnold Kokulewski and Max Steinberger 7-6, 3-6, 10-4, then defeated Andrzejczuk and Philip Gresk for the doubles title.
In other singles events this summer, Lomacki played in the quarterfinals of the Czech Republic F1 Futures in Prague in May, and in the Round of 16 in the Germany F5 Futures in June. He also played in the quarterfinals in doubles in the Ukraine F2 Futures.
Lomacki’s 758 ATP ranking is No. 6 on the current college ATP rankings, trailing players from Oklahoma, UCLA, North Carolina, Baylor and Florida State.
