#ThrowdownThursday: Thomas' Slam Sparks Rally
Sometimes great dunks are all about being at the right place at the right time. Positioning is key when crashing the offensive boards.
On this play in the second half of the NIT Championship, Sheldon McClellan was intent on getting to the basket, looking to draw some contact. Look at Joe Thomas‘ positioning. Joe is inching toward the basket, ready for a backdoor pass. Instead, Mac saw the center pop and wanted to take advantage of the mismatch and drove to the basket rather than dishing to Joe. It worked out. McClellan missed his layup high off the glass, but Thomas was—you guessed it—at the right place at the right time, flushing the miss with an emphatic two-handed jam.
The basket made like a Mark Light shake and shook it off:
“AHHHHHH,” said Joe Thomas.
