One Last Trip
• No. 14 Miami will begin its final road trip of the regular season Saturday, May 2 with a doubleheader against host Pittsburgh. The trip will mark the first visit to Charles L. Cost Field in program history.
• Miami will return home and finish the season with eight straight home games before traveling to Durham, N.C. for the 2015 ACC Baseball Championship at Durham Bulls Athletic Park (May 20-24).
• Miami is 9-0 all-time vs. Pittsburgh, and swept the Panthers in a three-game series at Mark Light Field in 2014. Pitt is led by second baseman Jordan Frabisilio (six home runs), outfielder Aaron Schnurbusch (.286, nine doubles, 23 RBI) and righthander T.J. Zeuch (3.78 ERA, 77 K’s).
Heating Up
• Over the past five games, sophomore Willie Abreu is hitting .474 with nine hits (9-for19) and eight RBI. He has 13 total bases over the stretch with a team-best OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.184.
• Over the past 10 games, junior shortstop Brandon Lopez is hitting .389 (14-for-36) with team-high totals of 14 hits and eight walks. His OBP during that stretch is .511 – second-highest among all players.
• Junior George Iskenderian is hitting .400 in ACC play.
• Senior righthander Daniel Briggi has allowed runs in just two of his 16 appearances, and has not allowed a run in his last eight appearances (10.1 innings).
• Junior lefthander Thomas Woodrey has tossed at least 6.0 innings in all 10 of his starts – he has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his 10 starts on the mound.
Power Surge
• After connecting for four homers in its series finale against Florida State, Miami now has 34 home runs in 2015. The Hurricanes had just 25 homers in all of 2014.
• The Hurricane bats combined to hit just .256 through the first 44 games of the 2014 season, but are hitting nearly 50 points higher (.300) for the second-best team average in the ACC this spring.
• Only four players had more than home run at this point in 2014, and the team had just 18 total. Seven players have multiple home runs this spring, with UM home runs up 88.8% (from 18 to 34).
• Miami’s offense is averaging 7.1 runs per game (compared to 5.45 at this point in 2014), and its slugging is up over 70 points to .437 (from .360 in 2014).
