W. Tennis Set for Last Regular Season Matches

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team will wrap up its 2015 regular season this weekend at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes, ranked No. 16 in the nation, will play consecutive home matches on Saturday and Sunday, with the team’s two seniors being honored before the finale.

Miami (14-5, 10-2 ACC) will first take on No. 70 Florida State Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The teams met earlier this season on Jan. 25 in Coral Gables in the ITA National Indoor Kick-Off Weekend and the Hurricanes won 5-0.

Florida State (13-9, 6-7 ACC) has two ranked singles players, in No. 80 Daneika Borthwick and No. 119 Kerrie Cartwright. The Seminoles also have one ranked doubles pair, as Gabriella Castenda and Emily Fanning hold the No. 54 position.

Miami’s senior day match will be Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against Pittsburgh (2-15, 0-12 ACC). The Panthers do not have any players ranked by the ITA. This will be the first time the Hurricanes host Pittsburgh in an ACC match.

Prior to squaring off against the Panthers, seniors Monique Albuquerque and Lina Lileikite will be recognized on the courts for their outstanding contributions to the Miami women’s tennis program.

The Hurricanes enter the final weekend of the regular season with five ranked singles players. Junior Stephanie Wagner is eighth, freshman Sinead Lohan comes in at No. 38, followed by junior Clementina Riobueno at No. 76, freshman Wendy Zhang at No. 101, and Lileikite at No. 115.

In doubles, Lileikite and Wagner are ranked eighth in the nation, while Albuquerque and Riobueno are at No. 44 and then Lileikite appears in the rankings again at no. 71 along with Zhang.
