@HurricaneTennis Up to No. 16 in ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team rose one spot in the ITA rankings released Tuesday afternoon.
The Hurricanes are now No. 16 in the country and continued their streak of being ranked in the top 20 every week this season. Miami (14-5, 10-2 ACC) posted a pair of ACC road victories over the weekend, winning 5-2 at Notre Dame, then No. 31 and now No. 33, and 6-1 at Louisville.
Miami, as has been the case all year, has five players nationally ranked in singles, with junior Stephanie Wagner pacing the group. The Amberg, Germany native climbed three spots to eighth in the country and has now been in the top eight in five of the seven singles rankings in 2015 and has been in the top 11 each time.
Freshman Sinead Lohan checks in at No. 38 in the nation and has been in the top 45 every week of her freshman season. Junior Clementina Riobueno holds the No. 76 position and has been among the top 90 singles players in the country the whole 2015 season.
Freshman Wendy Zhang moved up six spots and is now No. 101, while senior Lina Lileikite retained the No. 115 position on the list. Both players have been ranked the entire season.
Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ team has a trio of ranked doubles pairs, with Wagner and Lileikite holding the No. 8 place on the ITA’s list for the second week in a row. The duo has been in the top 10 in every set of 2015 rankings.
Albuquerque and Riobueno are ranked No. 44, while Lileikite is in the rankings again at No. 71 along with Zhang.
Miami will complete its regular season schedule this weekend when it hosts No. 70 Florida State Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and then Pittsburgh Sunday at 11:00 a.m. for senior day. Both matches will take place at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center and live stats can be found HERE.
