@CanesRowing Travels to Knecht Cup
MERCER COUNTY, N.J. – The University of Miami rowing program will have four boats competing at the 2015 Knecht Cup this weekend.
“We are looking forward to some competitive racing and a challenging progression,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “The crews have been working hard and can’t wait to race. I am super excited about their positive attitude and eagerness to test themselves.”
The Hurricanes will run in Heat 5 of the women’s varsity 4+ at 8:10 a.m., facing off against FIT, Drexel, Bowdoin, Alabama and Tulsa. The top three boats in of the five heats, as well as the next three fastest times, will advance to the semi-final.
Miami’s boat in the women’s second varsity 4+ will face off against Duquesne, FIT, Tulsa, Villanova and Fairfield in Heat 3 beginning at 8:52 a.m. The top two finishers in each of the four heats, as well as the next four fastest times, advance to the semi-final.
Miami’s women’s varsity 8+ will compete at 11:27 a.m., running in Heat 4 against Fairfield, San Diego State, UConn and Wisconsin. The top three finishers in each of the six heats will advance to the semi-final.
The fourth and final boat entering the water is Miami’s second varsity 8+, competing in Heat 1 at 11:57 a.m. against Canisius, Fairfield, UConn, Duquesne, Holy Cross and UCF. The top four finishers in each of the four heats, as well as the next two fastest times, will advance to the semifinal.
Following this weekend’s action, the Canes will face off against UCF on April 25 in preparation for the ACC Championships on May 15-16.
