@CanesMensTennis Travels to FSU and UofL

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team will be on the road this weekend to play a pair of ACC matches against No. 32 Florida State and No. 23 Louisville. 

On Friday, Canes will take on No. 32 FSU at 3 p.m. in Tallahassee. The match against the Seminoles will be televised on ESPN3

Then on Sunday, Miami will be in Bluegrass State to face off against No. 23 Louisville at 12 p.m.

Friday’s matchup is the 66th meeting between the Canes and the Seminoles. The Canes have a 46-19 all-time record against FSU. No. 32 FSU enters the match with a 16-6 record.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, this will be just the second meeting between Miami and Louisville, where Miami has a 2-0 all-time record against the Cardinals. No. 23 Louisville enters the weekend with a 19-4 mark this spring.

The Canes will enter this weekend’s matchups full of confidence after dispatching Boston College and nearly upsetting No. 37 Notre Dame. The Canes rolled past Boston College in a 6-1 victory and fell in a 4-3 match after a valiant comeback against No. 37 Notre Dame.

In singles play, No. 77 Piotr Lomacki has led the way for the Canes with nine singles victories, including two wins against nationally ranked opponents. Following closely behind are seniors Wilfredo Gonzalez and Henrique Tsukamoto with eight wins.

Freshmen Christian Langmo has secured three straight singles victories and now has has seven singles victories. Lone sophomore Bernard Tefel has six singles wins and freshman Niclas Genovese has secured five wins.

In doubles play, senior Gonzalez and freshman Kevin Bondar lead the way with a 9-4 record. Tsukamoto and Lomacki also have an impressive 8-4 record this spring. Freshman Nile Clark has five doubles victories, three coming with fellow freshman Alexander Fahnehjelm, one with Andrew Harrington and the other with Langmo.

After the two matches, the Canes will continue their road trip when they face two more ACC opponents. The Canes will take on No. 12 Wake Forest on Friday, April 10 at 3 p.m. and will face No. 34 NC State on Sunday, April 12 at 3 p.m.
