Cousineau Earns Platform All-America Honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Senior Cheyenne Cousineau picked up her second career All-America recognition Saturday at the 2015 NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships with a third-place finish in the platform event.
Cousineau, who earned All-America honors in 2013 in the same event when she was a redshirt sophomore at Ohio State, delivered a dominant performance in the night’s final round at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Temperance, Mich., native just made the cut with 282.75 points in morning preliminaries, but turned around with a score of 318.05 for a third-place finish nationally. Cousineau finished behind USC’s Haley Ishimatsu (339.65) and national champion Jessica Parratto of Indiana (367.00).
One day after fellow senior Thea Vock ended her Miami career with a fifth-place finish in the 3-meter and All-America honors, Cousineau made sure to end her career on a similar high note. The USA Diving Wendy Wyland Award winner was also named an Honorable Mention All-America in the 3-meter earlier in the event.
Next up for Miami is the NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships in Iowa City, Ia., where senior Sam Dorman and freshman Briadam Herrera will be competing.
