@HurricaneTennis Hosts NC State Friday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After nearly three weeks without a home match, the University of Miami women’s tennis team returns to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center Friday to face NC State at 11:00 a.m.

The 14th-ranked Hurricanes last played at home March 1, when they defeated then No. 14 Clemson, 7-0. Miami (9-3, 5-0 ACC) has won its five ACC matches by a combined score of 32-3, with three of them coming via shutout.

The Hurricanes are in a three-way tie atop the Atlantic Coast Conference, along with top-ranked North Carolina and No. 24 Duke.

NC State (9-6, 0-4 ACC) enters unranked, but features a ranked singles player and a ranked doubles pair. Joanna Nalborska checks in at No. 104 on the ITA’s singles list, and pairs with Elisha Hande in the No. 77 spot in the doubles rankings.

Miami has won six of its last seven matches and has five players ranked nationally in singles, including junior Stephanie Wagner at No. 7 and freshman Sinead Lohan at No. 37. The Hurricanes have two ranked doubles pairs, with Wagner and senior Lina Lileikite eighth in the nation along with senior Monique Albuquerque and junior Clementina Riobueno at No. 19.

Thirty minutes prior to the match beginning, at 10:30 a.m, Miami head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews will be hosting a chalk talk on the second floor of the tennis office building. No recruits or prospect-aged individuals are permitted to attend, but all others are invited to come.
