Miami and Army Set for Tuesday
• No. 17 Miami will wrap up its five-game homestand with a midweek game against Army at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17. The two teams have not met since March 1975 – a span of 40 years.
• Miami has a 26-2-1 all-time lead in the head-to-head series, including nine of the last 10 matchups. The 29 games in the all-time series have all been played at Mark Light Field.
• UM finished the 2014 season with a 11-4 home record in ACC play, and a 23-10 overall home record. UM has won seven straight home series dating to 2014, and is 12-1 at The Light in 2015.
• Army is off to a 9-4 start in 2015, including its most recent sweep of UMASS this past weekend. The Black Knights finished 33-18 and 15-5 in Patriot League play in 2014.
Simply The Best
• David Thompson was named ACC Player of the Week on March 16 after hitting .524 (11-for-21) in a perfect 5-0 week for Miami, including a three-game sweep of NC State.
• Thompson recorded three multi-hit games, two doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI in the prolific week, and led all Miami hitters with a 1.048 slugging percentage over the five-game stretch.
• The Miami native, who leads the Hurricanes with four home runs and 26 RBI, is slugging a team-best .608 and ranks second in batting average (.354), first in doubles (six) and third in walks (15).
• Thompson carries a 10-game hitting streak into Tuesday’s game.
There’s No Place Like Home
• Miami is off to a 12-1 start at home through its first 13 games.
• UM finished the 2014 season with a 11-4 home record in ACC play, and a 23-10 overall home record. UM has won seven straight home series dating, including all three series in 2015: Rutgers, Wright State and NC State.
• Miami is batting .326 at home compared to just .265 on the road, and has a robust .449 team on-base percentage (.364 road).
• Junior David Thompson is batting .383 in 13 starts at home, and leads the team with 18 hits, 15 runs and 15 RBI. Ricky Eusebio is batting .375 at home with 14 walks and five steals.
• Miami’s staff ERA is over a full run better at home (2.52) than on the road (3.71)
• Junior George Iskenderian (.452) and sophomore Zack Collins (.290) are both hitting better on the road than home through 21 games.
