MTennis To Play Valparaiso & Quinnipiac

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis program will continue their 2015 spring season on Tuesday, March 10 in a doubleheader where they will play Valparaiso at 11:30 a.m. and Quinnipiac at 6 p.m. at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

This is the first meeting between the Canes and Valparaiso. The Crusaders enter the match-up with an 11-2 record.

Tuesday’s match-up will also be the first meeting between Miami and Quinnipiac. The Bobcats enter Sanlando Park with a 3-4 record.

The Hurricanes will be looking to use the momentum gained after going 1-1 this past weekend against George Washington and ACC foe Georgia Tech. The Canes came away with a dominant 6-1 win against George Washington on Friday, and later fell on Sunday in a close dual match against Georgia Tech, 4-2. 

In singles play, No. 75 Piotr Lomacki and senior Henrique Tsukamoto and lead the way with six singles victories. Senior Wilfredo Gonzalez is following closely behind with five singles victories. Freshman Christian Langmo has three single victories. Fellow freshmen Andrew Harrington and Niclas Genovese and lone sophomore Bernard Tefel each have two singles victories. Freshman Kevin Bondar has one singles victory.

In doubles play, Tsukamoto and Lomacki lead the way with a 7-3 record. Gonzalez and Bondar have also found success playing together with an overall record of 5-1. Freshman Nile Clark has three doubles victories, one coming with Harrington, one with Langmo, and the other with freshman Alexander Fahnehjelm.

After the doubleheader, the Canes will travel to North Carolina later this week for a pair of ACC match-ups. Miami will face No. 19 North Carolina on Friday, March 13 at 3 p.m. and then will face No. 2 Duke on Sunday, March 15 at 12 p.m.
