Soccer Announces Signing of Baker for 2015

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami head coach Mary-Frances Monroe and the Hurricanes soccer staff has announced the addition of Maisie Baker to the incoming freshman class for the 2015 season.

Baker, a centerback from Redditch, England, played club soccer for Aston Villa Ladies FC and will join a seven-member recruiting class ranked among the best in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

“As an entire staff we are very excited to announce the addition of Maisie to our roster,” Monroe said. “I believe she will play a major role for us and be an immediate impact to the program as a freshman.”

Baker competed for England in a recent U-19 friendly against Norway, and helped Aston Villa transition into its first season as part of the Women’s Super League Two in 2014. She played every position on the defensive backline before solidifying her spot at central defense.

“Maisie has youth national team experience playing for England, and I’m excited to see her strong competitive mentality on the UM field this fall,” Monroe said.
