@HurricaneTennis Opens ACC Road Slate Friday
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After beginning its ACC schedule with a pair of home matches, the University of Miami women’s tennis team will start conference road play Friday.
The 14th-ranked Hurricanes meet No. 64 Syracuse at 3:00 p.m. New York. It will be the first time Miami faces the Orange on the road in ACC play.
Syracuse (6-4, 1-3 ACC) is coming off its first ACC victory, a 5-2 win against Pittsburgh. Although the Orange does not have any ranked singles or doubles players, it has been ranked in the top 35 in the nation this season.
After taking on Syracuse, Miami will stay in the Northeast to square off against No. 45 Boston College (7-4, 1-0 ACC) Sunday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Eagles feature the nation’s No. 71 ranked singles player, Jessica Wacnik.

Miami (6-2, 2-0 ACC) started conference action with a pair of shutout victories last week. The Hurricanes defeated No. 53 Wake Forest, 7-0, Friday, Feb. 27 in their first ACC match. They then took down the No. 14 team in the nation, Clemson, also by a 7-0 margin just two days later.
Junior Clementina Riobueno was named the ACC Player of the Week after posting a 4-0 record in Miami’s two matches.
The Hurricanes jumped six spots in the ITA’s rankings after the victories and are one of four ACC teams in the top 15.
Miami has a quintet of players of players ranked nationally in singles, including junior Stephanie Wagner and freshman Sinead Lohan, at No. 10 and No. 45 respectively.
In doubles, Wagner and senior Lina Lileikite form the nation’s seventh-ranked pair, while senior Monique Albuquerque and Riobueno check in at No. 17.
