Canes on Track - Ep. 5 - Jump Squad
Canes on Track is a video series giving an in-depth look at the Miami track and field and cross country programs.
Hosted by senior Taneisha Cordell, Canes on Track will feature interviews with coaches and student-athletes, as well as a look behind-the-scenes of the @MiamiTrack program.
In the latest episode of Canes on Track, Cordell sits down with junior jumpers Dakota Dailey-Harris and John-Patrick Friday.
Dailey-Harris is one of the best high jumpers in program history, ranking second all-time with a 1.78m mark indoors and second outdoors with a mark of 1.80m. This season, she won the women’s high jump at the Nittany Lion Challenge with a mark of 1.77m and placed sixth in the high jump at the McCravy Memorial Meet, clearing 1.73m.
Friday continues to be a consistent standout. Friday placed fourth at the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Elite Meet in the men’s long jump with a personal-best mark of 7.45m that ranks third in UM history. The junior broke the school record in the triple jump at the season opening Nittany Lion Challenge and then improved his record-setting mark at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet, clearing 15.77m.
The Hurricanes are competing this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Tyson Invitational.
