MTennis Retains No. 52 Spot in ITA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team has retained its position at No. 52 in the newest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released Tuesday afternoon. The Hurricanes are one of 11 ACC teams ranked in the ITA Top 75.
The Canes opened their 2015 spring season this weekend when they hosted Florida Atlantic and No. 70 UCF.
The Hurricanes defeated Florida Atlantic University 5-2 with the Canes winning five singles matches and one doubles match. The following day the Canes fell in a close 4-3 loss to the No. 70 University of Central Florida where the team won two singles matches and two doubles matches.
Senior Henrique Tsukamoto and No. 56 ranked Piotr Lomacki who are doubles partners, are leading the way for the Canes have not only won their two doubles match-ups, but have also gone undefeated in singles play.
The Canes will next travel to Waco, Texas, for the ITA Kickoff Weekend and will face No. 46 Drake on Jan. 24 and then will either face No. 6 Baylor or No. 62 Tulane on Jan. 25.
