Rincon Adds Genovese to 2015 Spring Roster
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team has added Switzerland’s Niclas Genovese to the roster beginning with the 2015 spring season, head coach Mario Rincon announced Tuesday.
“We are really excited about adding Niclas to our team,” said Rincon. “He’s a powerful athlete with an aggressive game and a lot of weapons. He’s an excellent student with a strong work ethic, and he will thrive at UM.”
Genovese, a native of Zug, Switzerland comes to Coral Gables with an extensive playing career as well as strong resume as a hitting partner.
Genovese was ranked as high as 1288 in the International Tennis Federation juniors rankings, and was a finalist at the Nike Juniors Masters and a semifinalist at the Interclub Nati-B tournament. He was an active member of the Swiss Team from 2005-2010, and has played in Futures events in Austria, Israel, France, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.
On the World Tour, Genovese has been a hitting partner with the former WTA World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark, as well as the 16-time Grand Slam winning doubles pair of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan from the United States, more famously known as the “Bryan Brothers.”
