The Game
Miami hosts Boston College in Atlantic Coast Conference play on Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. in the BankUnited Center.

The Series
Miami is 19-24 in the all-time series against Boston College, which dates back to the 1962-63 season. The Canes are 10-11 at home against the Eagles, 8-11 on the road and 1-2 at neutral sites. Coach L is 6-0 against BC. Miami has won the last eight matchups, and 11 of the last 13 outings.

Hurricanes Visit Homestead Air Reserve Base
On January 6, the Hurricanes visited the Homestead Air Reserve Base, where the team learned about military procedures, held an interactive basketball practice with airmen, ate dinner with the troops, and took photos with an F-16.

Canes Face Three Top 15 Teams in Four Games
Over a 14-day span, Miami will face three teams ranked in the Top 15. The Canes started with No. 3 Virginia, a double-overtime loss on Jan. 3. After facing unranked Boston College (Jan. 10), UM hits the road to play at No. 2 Duke (Jan. 13) and at No. 13/12 Notre Dame (Jan. 17).
In late February, the Canes will face another tough stretch against ranked teams when Miami plays at No. 5 Louisville (Feb. 21), then comes home to face in-state rival Florida State (Feb. 25) and No. 18/17 North Carolina (Feb. 28).

Coach L Approaching Win No. 550
Coach Jim Larrañaga is four wins away from 550 career victories and three wins away from 300 conference victories. He started the 2014-15 season with a 536-370 overall and 297-185 conference record in 30 years as a head coach.

Rodriguez at His Best Against the Best
In Miami’s two games against Top 10 teams – No. 3 Virginia and No. 8/7 Florida – Angel Rodriguez has put on a show, averaging 24.5 points and 5.0 assists. Against Florida, he scored 22 of his 24 points in the final nine minutes, draining five second-half three-pointers to help Miami earn the win. The junior scored 17 points in the second half against the Cavaliers, knocking down three clutch free throws with 0.9 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. In the two overtimes combined, he scored six points, including 4-4 at the line, and dished out three assists, accounting for 13 of Miami’s 17 overtime points.

Cruz Uceda To Debut For Canes Against Notre Dame
Junior Ivan Cruz Uceda, a 6-10 forward, will debut for the Hurricanes on Jan. 17 at Notre Dame, after being ruled ineligible for 50 percent of Miami’s games in the 2014-15 season. He is ineligible due to an NCAA rule that requires a student-athlete to enroll in college one year after high school graduation.

Former UM Assistant Coach’s Son Plays for BC
Former Miami assistant Coach Cesar Odio is the father of current Boston College Eagle Eddie Odio. Cesar was on the UM staff three seasons, including the 1984-85 practice season, then the 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons, Miami’s first years back after having a dormant program for 15 years. Odio has also coached at Barry University, Miami-Dade CC, Florida Southern College and Santa Fe High School (Lakeland, Fla.), and played at both Florida Southern and Christopher Columbus High in Miami.

Canes Outscore Virginia 43-25 in Second Half
Miami outscored Virginia 43-25 in the second half on Jan. 3, after falling behind by 18 in the first half against the No. 3 Cavaliers, who are ranked second in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 50.6 points per game.

Rodriguez on Robertson & Cousy Award Watch Lists
Junior PG Angel Rodriguez is one of 36 players listed on the watch list for the 2015 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award and was one of 24 players named to the early-season watch list for the 2014-15 Oscar Robertson Trophy for national player of the year, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Nov. 24.

Sherman Knocks Down Three from Downtown
Freshman Omar Sherman knocked down a trio of shots from downtown on his way to 13 points against No. 3 Virginia on Jan. 3. Sherman has scored 13 points three times this season and has hit multiple 3-pointers in three games for Miami.

Lecomte On Fire
Sophomore guard Manu Lecomte is hitting 47.0 percent (47-100) from the field, 43.3 percent (26-60) from long range and 86.7 percent (13-15) at the line in his sophomore season with the Canes. After averaging 7.7 points per game as a rookie, Lecomte has improved to 9.5 ppg this year, scoring in double digits in eight of 14 games. Last year Lecomte scored in double digits 11 times in 33 games played.
