MTen Ranked No. 52, Lomacki No. 56 in ITA

The University of Miami men’s tennis team is ranked No. 52 in the county and rookie Piotr Lomacki is slotted at No. 56 in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on January 6.

The Canes moved up one spot from last season’s final rank of No. 53. Twelve ACC teams are ranked in this year’s Top 75, with six in the Top 25.

Freshman Lomacki, from Warsaw, Poland, has already written himself an impressive resume in just one semester at Miami. He is currently listed at No. 743 in the ATP World rankings, and in the fall semester defeated four ITA Top 100 players in collegiate play. He qualified for the main draw at the ITA All-American Championship and was selected to the main draw at the USA F30 ITF Futures.

Miami opens the spring season Jan. 18 against FAU at 1:30 p.m., then the Canes turn around and play Jan. 19 against UCF at 12 p.m. UM hits the road for the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Waco, Texas, facing No. 46 Drake on Jan. 24, then either No. 6 Baylor or No. 62 Tulane on Jan. 25. The Canes then play eight-straight matches at home from Feb. 7 to March 8.
