@CanesRowing Set for Fall Scrimmage
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing program will open its fall season with a scrimmage against UCF and Barry University.
The Hurricanes will host the Knights and Buccaneers on the Indian Creek as the three teams conduct set pieces in both the varsity and novice divisions.
“Our team has been working hard in practice and everyone is excited to get into a competitive situation with some outside competition,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We are looking forward to a great morning of competition with UCF and Barry on Saturday.”
Saturday’s scrimmage is the first on-water experience for the Canes against another opponent this fall. Miami will use the scrimmage to prepare for the rest of its fall schedule.
Miami will return to familiar waters on Oct. 12, competing at the Head of the Indian Creek.
The Hurricanes will have two entries in the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. Miami has one entry in the Championship four event and one in the Club four event scheduled for October 18-19.
Miami will close out its fall season at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn. A year ago, the Canes earned four Top 10 finishes including two wins, a second place finish and an eighth place finish. They will look to improve on their previous success in this year’s Head of the Hooch, scheduled for November 1-2.
