Monday #ProCanes Report: Wayne Rising Up
The Monday Morning #ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. After a slow Week 3 that saw just two different #ProCanes score touchdowns, the same group exploded for six on Sunday in a prolific weekend of action. Two scores from Dolphins running back Lamar Miller and one each from Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne, 49ers running back Frank Gore, Falcons wideout Devin Hester and Saints tight end Jimmy Graham kept the eyes of Hurricanes across the nation glued to their television sets in Week 4.
Lamar Miller (Miami Dolphins) – 12 carries, 64 yards, two touchdowns
Miami’s third-year running back helped power the Dolphins to a 38-14 blowout win over Oakland in a game played at Wembley Stadium in London. Miller recorded the first multi-touchdown game of his career in the victory, scoring on runs of nine yards and one yard to help the Dolphins improve to 2-2 on the young season. Miller, who ranks fifth in the NFL with 277 rushing yards through four games, is on pace for his first career 1,000-yard season. The Killian HS alum ranks fourth in the NFL with four runs over 20 yards and is averaging 5.7 yards per carry – over 1.0 yard better than his career average – as he solidifies himself as the starting tailback.

Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts) – seven catches, 119 yards, one touchdown
With 10:40 remaining in the third quarter of his team’s game against Tennessee, Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne continued his ascent through NFL history. The 14th-year wide receiver moved into seventh place in league history in all-time catches on the play, hauling in his 1,026th career reception and jumping Isaac Bruce (1,024) for No. 7 all-time. He finished the afternoon with seven catches and 119 yards – marking his first 100-yard receiving game of the season – hauling in a 28-yard touchdown to open the third quarter. The performance also saw Wayne crack the NFL’s top 10 in all-time receiving yards with 13,873 – he is just 127 away from becoming the ninth player in league history to eclipse 14,000 career receiving yards.

Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) – 24 carries, 119 yards, 55-yard reception, 1 TD
Just one week after one of the more disappointing performances of his career, Frank Gore rebounded with a dominant showing to help San Francisco topple visiting Philadelphia 26-21. The 10th-year professional and Coral Gables Senior HS alum recorded the longest reception of his professional career – a 55-yard catch-and-run in tandem with 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick – to give San Francisco its first lead of the afternoon. He also broke the 100-yard mark for the first time this season – recording 119 yards on 24 carries – in a performance that reminded 49ers fans that Gore remains the heart of the team’s offense. “Putting the ball in 21’s hands is a good thing,” Kaepernick said after the game.
