@HurricanesGolf Releases 2014-15 Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Fresh off back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances, the Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team released its 2014-15 schedule Wednesday.

In their third season under head coach Patti Rizzo, the Hurricanes tied for fifth at the 2014 ACC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Central Regional in Stillwater, Okla.

Miami’s schedule features eight tournaments – three fall events, followed by five in the spring. The Hurricanes open their fall slate Sept. 20-22 with the East/West Match Play in Ann Arbor, Mich., followed by the Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 6-7 in Highland Park, Ill. Miami concludes its fall season Oct. 12-14 at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas.

For the third consecutive year, Miami opens spring play with the Florida Challenge in Lecanto. After playing in the UCF Challenge, the Hurricanes will host the Hurricane Invitational March 2-4 at The Biltmore in Coral Gables. Miami has finished second or third in each of the last three Hurricane Invitational events.

Miami’s final two spring tournaments will be March 23-24 at the Briar’s Creek Invitational and April 10-12 at the SMU Invitational. Once again, the ACC Championship will be held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Miami returns seven golfers and all five starters, including All-ACC and WGCA All-American Daniela Darquea, who led the Canes with a 73.00 scoring average as a freshman in 2013-14. Darquea finished in the top 25 in eight of Miami’s 10 events a season ago.

Sophomore Delfina Acosta, junior Kailey Walsh and senior Rika Park started in each of Miami’s 10 tournaments in 2013-14, while senior Leticia Ras-Anderica started the first eight events.
