CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head women’s basketball coach Katie Meier accepted a #Chillin4Charity challenge from UCLA head coach Cori Close and Marquette head coach Carolyn Kieger on Friday morning.

With the help of University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala and men’s basketball sophomore Tonye Jekiri, Meier happily took a dousing of ice cold water.

After their coach completed her challenge, seniors Suriya McGuire and Necole Sterling took their buckets of cold water.

An initiative being spread around the women’s basketball world to raise funds and awareness for the Kay Yow Foundation, coaches from around the country have completed the Cold Water Challenge and challenged their counterparts to continue the initiative.

#Chillin4Charity Rules

After being called out by someone, the recipient has 48 hours to complete the challenge. If the challenge is completed, the challenging coach will donate $50 dollars to the Kay Yow Foundation.
