#BuildingChampions Campaign Wins Silver Telly
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s 2014 #BuildingChampions campaign (“Continuing to Build Champions” developed for the Hurricane Club was named a Silver winner at the 35th Annual Telly Awards.
Led by Associate AD Jesse Marks and Director of Development Emily Boone, Miami’s campaign was developed by Pursuant, a full-service comprehensive fundraising and communications consulting firm based in Dallas, and featured UM coaches, student-athletes, Super Bowl Champion Ray Lewis and NBA Champion James Jones. It is the third consecutive year that Miami Hurricanes Athletics has won a Telly Award. 3Penny Films’ “Raising Canes” won two bronze awards in 2012 and the Hurricane Club’s “Building Champions” campaign won a bronze award in 2013.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition and received nearly 12,000 entries in 2014 from all 50 states and numerous countries.
“Our Building Champions membership campaign has been extremely successful in expanding our reach and linking our donors to Miami’s National Championship tradition,” said Jesse Marks, Associate AD for Development. “Thanks to Pursuant and our athletics programs’ successes, we’re continuously exceeding our goals and we are continuing to generate important new revenue that directly benefits UM student-athletes.”
Miami’s “Building Champions” campaign is a three-year initiative to grow the Hurricane Club membership base and expand its national reach. In its second year of the campaign, the Hurricane Club eclipsed $9.8 million in annual giving for the Student Athlete Excellence Fund and is now focused on reaching its three-year goal of 7,500 active members.
