NCAA Tennis Matchups & Start Times Announced

ATHENS, Ga. – Matchups and start times for Thursday’s NCAA Singles Second Round and Doubles First Round were announced Wednesday evening.

Miami’s 29th-ranked Stephanie Wagner will play No. 7 Beatrice Capra of Duke at 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Capra, the fifth overall seed in the tournament, defeated Pepperdine’s Lorraine Guillermo 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the second round. Earlier Wednesday, Wagner defeated No. 16 Brianna Morgan of Florida in straight sets.

Wagner and Capra squared off earlier this year on April 6 in Durham, with Capra besting Wagner in a third set tiebreaker, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9). Overall this spring, Capra has posted a 27-9 overall record and is 16-7 against ranked opponents.

In the opening round of doubles, 8th-ranked Monique Albuquerque and Clementina Riobueno will play 19th-ranked Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia of host Georgia at 3 p.m. The second doubles team for the Bulldogs are 27-5 this spring and have taken down four ranked teams.
