HOME SWEET HOME…
• After capturing its third consecutive ACC road sweep against No. 20 Clemson, Miami returns home to wrap up its non-conference schedule with a four-game homestand beginning Friday with a series opener against Alabama State (7 p.m.).
• For the first time in program history, the Hurricanes completed a three-game sweep of the Tigers at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Miami improved to 6-0 in its last six matchups with Clemson, and moved into sole possession of first place in the ACC with the sweep.
• Friday’s opener will mark the first-ever meeting between the Hurricanes and Hornets. Miami closes out its homestand next Wednesday (May 7) looking to capture a season series sweep of FGCU.
STREAKING SUCCESS…
• Miami is the hottest college baseball team in the nation, having won 19 of its last 20 games and moving into sole possession of first place in the ACC.
• The Hurricanes’ current 12-game road winning streak is the second-longest in program history, short of a 16-game run during the team’s 2001 national championship-winning season.
• With its impressive recent stretch, which included the nation’s longest winning streak at 14 games, Miami moved into the top five of a national poll Monday for the first time since March 2009 when it was ranked No. 4 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
• Miami set a new program record with 10 consecutive ACC wins during the 14-game winning streak, besting the previous long (nine consecutive) by one win.
SIMPLY THE BEST…
• During an impressive 5-0 week in which he hit .526 with nine RBI, freshman slugger Zack Collins was recognized with ACC Player of the Week honors Monday.
• The award culminated an impressive April for Collins, who batted .424 for the month and moved into the team-lead in batting average (.306). He leads the team in a number of offensive categories, including home runs (seven), RBI (39), on-base percentage (.414) and slugging percentage (.563).
• Collins also stacks up well against his peers in the ACC. The freshman ranks 19th in the ACC in batting average, fourth in home runs, sixth in triples, third in RBI, fifth in total bases and second in slugging percentage.
