No. 72 Men's Tennis Hosts ACC Rivals
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 72 University of Miami men’s tennis team will host ACC rivals No. 18 Wake Forest and No. 31 NC State this Friday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m., respectively, at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Earlier this week Miami shut out No. 58 Wisconsin, 4-0. This was the Canes’ fourth-consecutive win over the past 12 days. The seniors shined in the match against the Badgers, with Omar Aly, Gabriel Flores, and Diego Soto contributing three of the four points to secure the win on Monday.
Soto continues to lead the Canes will 12 singles match victories, followed by Aly with 11. William Albanese and Flores both have nine singles match wins. In doubles, the duo of Flores and Soto are 8-5 on the season, the most wins on the team.
No. 18 Wake Forest comes to Miami with a 2014 spring season record of 9-5. The Deacons are coming off three consecutive loses against No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 7 Texas, and most recently No. 11 North Carolina. Their record on the road is 2-3.
No. 31 NC State will visit No. 41 FSU on Friday March 21 before they come to Miami to take on the Hurricanes, on Sunday, March 23. The Wolfpack hold an 11-4 overall season record. They are coming off two loses at home against No. 10 Duke and No. 18 North Carolina.
