No. 30 Golf Hosts Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 30th-ranked Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team will host 17 teams March 3-5 for the 2014 Hurricane Invitational at Biltmore Golf Course.

The three-day event will be played over three days at the par-71, 6,092-yard course at the Biltmore, a few miles from the University of Miami campus. The first two rounds on Monday and Tuesday will begin with 7:30 a.m. tee times in eight-minute intervals off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Wednesday’s final round will commence with an 8 a.m. shotgun state. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available at www.golfstatresults.com and www.hurricanesports.com.

Miami is one of three teams in the field ranked inside the top 30 of the latest Golfstat NCAA Division I standings. Daytona State College enters the tournament as the top-ranked team in junior college.

At the 2013 Hurricane Invitational at Deering Bay, the Hurricanes finished third out of 18 teams, while Baylor won the tournament by a four-stroke margin.

All 10 Hurricane golfers will compete at the Hurricane Invitational as head coach Patti Rizzo’s squad will be divided into two teams. Miami’s A team will feature juniors Leticia Ras-Anderica and Rika Park, sophomore Kailey Walsh, and freshmen Daniela Darquea and Delfina Acosta. Miami’s B team will feature senior Carina Cuculiza; junior Audrey Monssoh; and sophomores Lauren Riehle, Laura Hendee and Christina Ocampo.

Ras-Anderica leads the Hurricanes with a 73.82 scoring average and two top-10 finishes through four tournaments, while Darquea ranks second on the team with a 73.91 average.

Miami has finished either second or third in each of its last three tournaments this season. Following the Hurricane Invitational, the Hurricanes will head north March 14-16 for the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
