Golf Faces Competitive Field at UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – Following a third-place finish at the Florida Challenge, the 33rd-ranked Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team faces a competitive 19-team field Feb. 9-11 at the UCF Challenge.

The three-day tournament, hosted by No. 22 UCF, will be played at the Eagle Creek Golf Club, with a course that spans 6,349 yards and a par-72 layout. Sunday’s first round will tee off at 9 a.m. ET. The second round will be played Monday, followed by the final round Tuesday. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available at www.golfstatresults.com.

Sixteen of the 19 teams competing at the UCF Challenge are ranked in the Top 75, including eight in the Top 50.

At the 2013 edition of the UCF Challenge in Sorrento, the Hurricanes finished fourth out of 18 teams. Its 54-hole score of 877 was – at the time – the second-lowest in program history.

For the fifth straight tournament, Miami’s lineup will include two juniors (Leticia Ras-Anderica and Rika Park), one sophomore (Kailey Walsh) and two freshmen (Daniela Darquea and Delfina Acosta). Sophomore Lauren Riehle will compete as an individual.

Through four tournaments, Ras-Anderica leads the Hurricanes with a 73.82 scoring average and three top-15 finishes. She is one of three Miami golfers with three top-25 finishes this season. As a team, the Hurricanes are averaging 294.45 through 11 rounds.
