Walford Will Be Back for 2014 Season
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes tight end Clive Walford will return to school for his senior season, the Belle Glade native announced Saturday.
“I think that the program is heading back to national recognition the way that Coach Golden and his staff are constructing and leading this team,” Walford said. “Waiting for the NFL (for another year) will only make me a more complete player overall and increase my knowledge of the game.”
Walford played in all 13 games in 2013, while making 12 starts at tight end. He finished the season with 454 receiving yards and two TDs on 34 catches. During Miami’s bowl game in Orlando, he eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for his career.
The 2014 John Mackey Award candidate has 1,077 yards and seven TDs on 77 catches in 37 career games.
“(The Russell Athletic Bowl) game and winning nine games were very important for our team,” Walford said. “It’s another step in the right direction.”
