@CanesRowing Opens Winter Camp
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing program opened its January mini-camp in preparation for the 2014 championship season.
The mini-camp, which opened Thursday with a 6 a.m. ergometer workout, will run through the weekend and get the student-athletes ready to go for the beginning of the spring semester.
“I’m excited to see the team after what I hope was a recharging holiday break for them,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “Our mini-camp kicks off winter training and we will go for our first row on the water of the new year. We will be putting in quality training hours of good, old-fashioned hard work, one stroke at a time. I can’t wait to get the process started.”
Miami’s rowers will participate in a variety of activities this weekend, including erg work, on-water training, strength training, nutrition education sessions and team-building exercises.
The Hurricanes will scrimmage against the University of Michigan on Saturday, March 8 in Tampa, Fla. Miami will open its championship season two weeks later when it hosts UConn on March 21 at the Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center.
