McCormack, Divers Wrap Up UT Invitational
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Miami diving team wrapped up its trip to the 2013 University of Texas Invite Saturday at the Texas Swimming Center.
Reigning ACC Women’s Diver of the Year Kara McCormack had another strong showing for the Hurricanes. McCormack, who captured second place in the 1-meter finals on Friday night, added another second-place finish in the platform.
In front of her hometown crowd, McCormack ended the day with a final score of 303.90.
Sophomore Tanner Wilfong and senior Zac Nees continued momentum with top five finishes in a competitive field of platform divers. Wilfong captured fourth with a score of 397.95, while Nees took fifth with a final score of 351.10.
The performance capped another solid weekend for Nees, who earned fourth in the 3-meter Friday night with a final score of 421.85.
The Hurricanes divers will return to Miami to begin preparations for the 2013 US Diving Nationals, which will also take place back in Austin. The five-day competition is slated to begin Dec. 17.
