Sanderson Announces @CanesRowing Fall Signees
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head rowing coach Dave Sanderson is pleased to announce the University of Miami’s 2014 fall signing class.
The Canes signed four rowers who become Sanderson’s first signees at Miami. The Hurricanes’ head coach is excited to see them develop as student-athletes over their time in Coral Gables.
“All four of our early signees will be great additions to our squad,” Sanderson said. “They are all fantastic, well-rounded people who already possess strong athletic qualities that have served them well. In addition, they each have the desire, the willingness and the ability to make the University of Miami rowing team faster. I am thrilled to have them and I look forward to working with them next year.”

“I am excited to be a part of the UM rowing team because of its great reputation,” Hoffman said. “Every single girl on the team is extremely dedicated and I believe with the strength UM has, we will continue to succeed. On my recent visit to UM, both the coaches and the team made me feel like I belonged and I knew I was making the right decision.”

She also had success rowing for Penn AC, placing third in the Junior 4+ at the 2013 USRowing Club Nationals and fourth in the Junior 4x at the 2013 Canadian Henley.
“I chose the University of Miami because both the rowing team and school seemed like a perfect fit,” Lynch said. “I am excited to be a part of the team, help them excel and pursue a career in Exercise Physiology with a degree from The U.”
Jane Moore, 5-foot-11 (Darien, Conn./The Gunnery School)
Moore was a standout rower for The Gunnery School, placing fifth in the individual Junior B Girls event of the 2013 Connecticut Indoor Rowing Championships. Moore also competed at the 2013 Head of the Housatonic, helping The Gunnery School place sixth in the Girls’ Varsity 4+ event.
“I chose UM because of the inviting athletic and academic atmosphere,” Moore said. “The team seemed to be motivated and focused, which is what I stand for. I am excited to start the first day of training.”
Elise Wiley, 5-foot-11 (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada/Sir Winston Churchill)
Wiley is a standout rower for Sir Winston Churchill, as well as the Ridley Grad Boat Club. As a member of Ridley Boat Club, she placed first in the U19 Women’s 2x and U19 Women’s 4x events at the 2013 CORA Championships.
“I was initially drawn to the University of Miami because of its excellent reputation,” Wiley said. “High-quality academics and athletics, as well as a strong school spirit, are all important to me. Everyone was so warm and welcoming when I visited the campus and I knew right away that it was the university for me. I am thrilled to be joining the UM family.”
