#ProCanes Report: Larkin Debuts vs. Philly

The wait is over.

Monday night, Shane Larkin debuted in his first NBA game. It was only four months after having ankle surgery.

As he walked onto the court, the crowd (which included his parents) erupted in cheers. The Dallas Mavericks appeared to be a faster and better passing team with Larkin in the game.

In only nine minutes of action, Larkin totaled three points, accumulated three steals and three assists. He made his first point of his NBA career off a free throw within five seconds of coming into the game. His first basket was recovering a jump ball and then using his speed to run past the defense for the easy lay-up.

Shane Larkin talked about the game, “Just to get out there was an amazing experience. I was out there smiling the whole time. I was living my dream, so it was a great night.”

The Dallas Mavericks slipped by the Philadelphia 76ers, 97-94.

He will continue to increase his role as he finishes nursing from his ankle injury. Looking to provide more scoring opportunities on the court for his teammates, Larkin’s role will only increase over time wih Coach Rick Carlisle.
