Rincon Releases MTennis Fall Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team’s fall 2013 schedule has officially been released by head coach Mario Rincon.

“Our team is motivated to compete again soon,” said Rincon. “We play challenging tournaments in the fall, including ITA All-Americans, Bedford Cup, Southeast  Regional Championships, Jack Kramer Invitational and FGCU Invitational. All of the tournaments will be individual draws, and our guys will have the opportunity to compete against some of the strongest players in the country. Our fall schedule is stronger than in previous years, and all of the tournaments are on the road.”

The Canes will play in five tournaments throughout the fall, starting Sept. 26 with the Bedford Cup-State of Florida Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., before heading out of state to Tulsa, Okla., to participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships, which run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6.

“We have an experienced team with three seniors – Omar Aly, Gabriel Flores and Diego Soto – leading the way, and we are looking forward to getting on the courts soon,” Rincon added.

The team will not compete again in the state of Florida until the end of October, after they return from the ITA Regional Championships in Atlanta, Ga. The Canes will spend three days (Oct. 25 – 27) in Fort Myers, Fla., competing in the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Invitational.

The men’s fall season will be capped off with a three-day trip to Los Angeles, Calif., for the Jack Kramer Club Invitational November 1-3.
