The Hurricanes will open their non-conference schedule Friday, Nov. 8 with a matchup against St. Francis (NY) at the BankUnited Center. Miami is 1-0 against the New York school, with the first matchup resulting in a 71-70 Miami victory in 1963. Miami is 49-14 in season openers, has won 20-straight season openers, and 20-straight home openers. Coach L is 2-0 in openers at UM. The Hurricanes were 14-1 at the BankUnited Center in 2012-13 and are 121-48 overall in the BUC. The Hurricanes have notched double-digit home wins at the BankUnited in six-straight seasons and nine times in 10 full seasons calling the arena home. |

For the first time in their history, Miami will face Georgia Southern in their second non-conference game. The game, which will be played at the BankUnited Center, is one of three matchups in which the Canes will be facing an opponent for the first time. |

Miami’s basketball schedule will continue in Coral Gables, Fla., against first-time opponent Texas Southern. The matchup will be the Hurricanes’ third non-conference game. Texas Southern will be one of three first time opponents for the Canes during the 2013-14 season. |

For the first time in their non-conference schedule, the Miami Hurricanes will travel away from Coral Gables to Charleston, S.C., to face the College of Charleston as part of the Wooden Legacy. The Cougars finished 24-11 last season, including a second-place finish in the Southern Conference with a 14-4 record. Charleston returns four of its five starters from last season, including the team’s second leading scorer. This will be the first matchup with CoC in Miami’s history. |

The Hurricanes will return home to face UCF, a team Miami has had a successful 7-1 record against. The last meeting occurred in 2012, a 72-50 win at UCF’s CFE arena. The Knights return four of five starters from the 2012-13 season, including their leading scorer. Miami is 4-0 against UCF at home since 1986. |

The Hurricanes will compete in the newly create Wooden Legacy November 28 through December 1. Miami will open play with George Washington and face either Cal State Fullerton or Marquette in their second game. The Wooden Legacy was formed as two vibrant, nationally-recognized in-season collegiate basketball events join forces. The former John R. Wooden Classic will combine with the Anaheim Classic, the eight-team, three-day, 12-game bracketed event that has been staged the past six years in Anaheim. The opening two rounds will be played at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. The games then move to Honda Center with four placement contests featuring the championship game between the remaining unbeaten schools on Sunday, Dec. 1. |

The Canes will return home, December 4, to take on Nebraska for the fifth time in school history. Miami has posted a 1-3 overall record against Nebraska, last facing them in 2006. Nebraska has three returning players that started at least 16 games during the 2012-13 campaign. This will be the fifth home non-conference game for the Hurricanes. |

It has been nine years since Miami last played Savannah State, but December 19 will mark the fourth time the two programs have played each other. The Canes have won the previous three matchups. The game will be a homecoming for Hurricanes senior guard Rion Brown who is from nearby Hinesville, Georgia and played at Liberty County High School. December 19 will be the third overall time the Hurricanes must travel to face a non-conference opponent, facing a Tiger’s team that was 11-3 at home last seaso |

2013 will be the year of non-conference renewal for Miami basketball, facing La Salle for the second time since 1970. Miami took last year’s meeting at home, 76-59. The meeting will be the 15th matchup between the two schools. La Salle, a Sweet 16 participant during the 2012-13 season, had a 24-10 overall record last year. |

The non-conference schedule continues at the BankUnited Center as the Hurricanes will take on Loyola (MD) for the first time in school history. The Greyhounds, who finished the 2012-13 season at 23-12, return only two of seven players that made 10 or more starts. One of the two was the team’s leading scorer. |
