MBB: Summer Ends For Kadji and Cavaliers

Like Durand Scott, Kenny Kadji must play the waiting game. The Summer League ended early for Kadji despite a quality performance.

With an 82-76 loss to the Heat in the league’s quarterfinals, Kadji’s Cavaliers are officially eliminated from tournament contention. His performance was indicative of the steady and reliable player he has portrayed himself as this summer.

In 17 minutes, Kadji scored seven points, grabbed three rebounds and contributed two assists. During the Summer League, Kadji averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Consistency may be the calling card for the Second Team All-ACC performer. Kadji hopes to join the likes of former Canes John Salmons, James Jones and Shane Larkin on an NBA roster. Durand Scott, whose Summer League ended Friday, hopes to achieve the same thing.

Recent Hurricane DeQuan Jones, known for his incredible dunking ability, has recently become an NBA free agent. After participating in the 2013 Orlando Summer League for the Orlando Magic, Jones was informed by team personnel that he was not going to be re-signed.

The second year pro averaged 4.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 5 summer league games. During his lone season with the Magic, Jones saw action in 63 games. He averaged 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds per game for a rebuilding Magic team.

Jones took to Twitter to thank Magic officials and Magic fans for their support over the past year. The 23 year old will now look to find another potential NBA employer.
