Dorman Qualifies for World University Games

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes junior diver Samuel Dorman has qualified for the 2013 World University Games in the 1-meter springboard. Dorman scored 735.60 during Wednesday’s World Championship Trials in Tallahassee. The 2013 World University Games will be held July 5-13 in Kazan, Russia.

Dorman is one of four Hurricanes divers competing at this week’s trials. Senior Zac Nees, All-ACC diver Kara McCormack and All-ACC Academic diver Carrie Dragland are also at the trials.

Dorman and Nees will compete in Thursday’s 3-meter preliminary round, while McCormack competes in the 10-meter. Dragland was an unattached participant in the women’s 1-meter springboard Wednesday.

Dorman and Nees will team up for the synchronized 3-meter. The Miami duo was the highest-placing U.S. team at the U.S. Grand Prix last week in Ft. Lauderdale.
