Canes Track Sets Records at Florida Relays
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field program set two school records in their first day of competition at the Florida Relays.
Greg Kaczka placed fourth in the men’s 1500m run. The senior set a new Miami record, finishing the race in 3:50.51.
Kaczka was not the only Hurricane to set a new Miami record on Friday. Sean Pezzulo set a new Miami record in the men’s 5000m run. The sophomore, who placed seventh, finished the race in 14:42.32.
Several other Hurricanes had solid performances in Gainesville.
Isaiah Simmons finished fifth in the men’s discus with a throw of 166’ 1”. The redshirt freshman will compete in the men’s shot put on Saturday.
Junior Lindsi Arrington placed seventh in the women’s 1500m run with a time of 4:33.07, while freshman Dakota Dailey-Harris placed eighth in the women’s high jump, clearing 5’ 7.25”.
Amber Monroe finished eighth in the women’s discus with a throw of 163’ 9”. The sophomore is scheduled to compete in the women’s shot put on Saturday.
Junior Alaine Tate placed 13th in the women’s 800m run, finishing in 2:08.96. Sophomore Taneisha Cordell also ran in the field of 42, finishing in 2:14.32.
Jamika Glades had a solid start to her first Florida Relays as a Hurricane. The freshman placed 18th out of 46 in the women’s 400m hurdles, finishing in 1:00.43.
Junior Alyssa McClure placed 22nd out of 58 in the women’s 100m dash, finishing in 11.82 seconds.
