Rowing Wraps Up Cardinal Invitational
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The University of Miami’s women’s rowing team concluded its final races of the weekend Sunday. Future ACC member Notre Dame won all four events.
The 1V got off to a good start out of the gates and the Canes held a slight advantage over the Irish and Cardinals through the first quarter of the 2000m race. Both Notre Dame and Louisville put on a good push in the second 500m, pulling away from the Canes, who were unable to maintain their position. Miami never regained its footing and Notre Dame went on to claim the race with Louisville and Miami following.
Like the 1V race, the Canes’ 2V got off to a terrific start but were unable to withstand a strong mid-race push from their counterparts from Notre Dame and Louisville. At the line it was again Notre Dame, Louisville and Miami with the Irish 3V8+ trailing.
The V4+ again showed good progress. The young novice-laden crew was outmatched by the deeper Irish and Cardinal rosters, but they maintained composure and focus over the course.
