The Game With a league-leading 14-2 record in the ACC, No. 6/7 University of Miami hosts Georgia Tech on Wednesday, March 6 at 9 p.m. in Coral Gables, Fla.  
The SeriesMiami is 10-6 all-time against Georgia Tech, with the series dating back to the 1952-53 campaign. The Canes are 5-2 against the Yellow Jackets at home and 5-4 on the road. Miami has won three-straight matchups with GT, and nine of the last 11 meetings after starting the series 1-4.

The Notes On Jan. 28, the Canes jumped 11 spots in the AP Poll & entered the USA TODAY poll for the first time since December 2008. Miami was No. 2/2 in the nation, tying the school’s highest ranks in history.  According to research by The AP, Miami is the sixth school to ascend from unranked to the top five in four weeks or less since the AP Top 25 begin in 1989-90. Connecticut was the last school to make the leap, doing so in 2010-11.
With a Win Against Georgia Tech … • Miami will clinch sole possession of the ACC regular season championship and will cut down the nets following the game. • The Canes will be 8-0 in ACC play at home, one victory short of the most ACC wins (home + away) prior to this season. Last year Miami was 9-7 overall in the league with a 6-2 mark at home. • UM will be 14-0 at home, tying the best home mark since being 14-2 in 2007-08. 
Playing for the outright ACC Title With a 14-2 ACC record and just two games to play, Miami has earned the top seed in the ACC tournament and at least a share of the ACC regular season conference championship. With one win, Miami will hold sole possession of the ACC regular season conference championship.  The Canes have already earned a share of the regular season championship in Coach L’’s second year with the team. Of current league coaches, Roy Williams also won the ACC regular season in his second year in the ACC, taking over UNC in 2003-04, and winning in 2005.  With a 13-3 mark in the league, Miami tied Syracuse for the 2000 BIG EAST regular season title, the Canes’ only conference championship in school history. In 1999-2000, Leonard Hamilton led Miami to a 23-11 mark and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. 
Canes Continue Top 10 Ranking At No. 6/7 the Canes have now been ranked in the top 10 for five-straight weeks, topping out at No. 2/2 on Feb. 18, 2013. Prior to this season, Miami had never been ranked in the top 10 more than two-straight weeks (1999 and 1960).  UM was ranked in the top 25 for 12 straight weeks in 2001-02, starting at No. 24/23 on Dec. 24, 2001, peaking at No. 12/11 Feb. 4, 2002, and ending No. 21/21 on March 10, 2002.  In 2008-09, Miami was No. 17/16 in the preseason poll and held a top 25 ranking four weeks, until dropping out on Dec. 8, 2008. In 1998-99, Miami was in the top 25 for nine-straight weeks from Jan. 18, 1999 to the final poll. 
Canes at Home in the ACC Miami is on a 10-game home ACC winning streak, dating back to last season. The Canes have defeated Wake Forest, Florida State (2x), Boston College (2x), Maryland, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech at the BankUnited Center in that span. Miami’s last home ACC loss was Feb. 15, 2012, when North Carolina defeated the Canes 73-64. Coach L is 23-9 overall in ACC play at Miami, including 13-2 at home. Miami was 6-2 at the BUC in league play last year. 
Canes Defend Home Court The Hurricanes are 13-0 at the BankUnited Center in 2012-13 and are 120-47 overall in the BUC. With one more win, the Canes will tie the most home wins in a season, set in 2007-08., when Miami was 14-2. The Hurricanes have notched double-digit home wins at the BankUnited in six-straight seasons and nine times in 10 full seasons calling the arena home. 
Home Court Advantage Miami has shot better than 42 percent from the field in 12 of its 13 home games, shooting a season-high 59.0 percent vs. Jacksonville. The Canes shot 56.9 percent against No. 1 Duke, hitting 58.6 percent in the first half and 55.2 percent in the second.  Miami was consistent vs. Detroit hitting 14-27 shots (51.9 %) in both the first and second halves. The Canes have shot better than 60 percent in two home second halves, with 63.6 percent vs. SU and 62.5 percent vs. JU.
Selling Out the BankUnited Center Miami posted capacity crowds of 7,972 fans in wins over Florida State (1/27), No. 1 Duke (1/23), North Carolina (2/9) and Virginia (2/19).  This year is the first time in program history that there have been back-to-back sellouts at the BankUnited Center and four games in the same season.
Record Student Attendance at the BUC Miami has set a record for the most games with 1,200 or more students (5), and is on pace for a record student average attendance and cumulative season student attendance. The past average attendance was 641 per game, and UM is at 770 per game this season. The cumulative student attendance record is 10,269 and 10,007 students have already attended Miami’s games, and the Canes have two remaining home contests.
Canes Dominate at Home With the Feb. 10 win over UNC, Miami won four-straight home games by at least 22 points: No. 1 Duke +27, FSU +24, BC +22, UNC +26. The Canes also defeated Virginia Tech by 18, Maryland by 7 and Virginia by 4. Overall, Miami has outscored its ACC opponents by +17.2 at home. 
20-Win Season for Miami Miami is one win short of tying the school record for most wins in a season, which was 24 in 2001-02 under Perry Clark.  With a 23-5 record, Miami has posted its 14th 20-win season, and Coach Larrañaga’s second-straight with the Hurricanes. UM’s best record was the 24-8 season in 2001-02 under Perry Clark, when the Canes were 10-6 in the BIG EAST and went to the NCAA Tournament. Last year the Canes were 20-13 overall, 9-7 in the ACC and played in the NIT. A complete list of 20-win seasons is on page 4 of the notes.
Larkin A Bob Cousy and Naismith Award Finalist  Shane Larkin has been named a Bob Cousy Award finalist, listing the sophomore as one of the top 12 point guards in the nation. Larkin joins ACC peer Lorenzo Brown (NC State) and 2012-13 opponent Keith Appling (Michigan State) on the list.  Larkin was added to the Naismith watch list in late February, placing him in the top 30 players in the country.
