Howdid you become a Hurricanes fan?

“Growingup, I was a huge sports fanatic. I knew that wherever I went to school, itneeded to be a good sports school. When I decided to go to Miami, I immediatelywent out and bought tons of gear. One of my favorite moments of my collegecareer was the first Hurricanes football game where we got to walk on thefield. Thinking back on college, my best memories were at football, basketballand baseball games. I always had a blast supporting my team in some of the bestcollege sporting events I have ever seen.”

Doyou find it difficult supporting Miami while living in Boston?

“Idon’t find it too difficult to support Miami being in Boston. There are a lotof alumni in the area and we get together for all of the sporting events. Tonightwe are headed to the game at BC. I wish that I could be at more of the Miamigames, but sitting at a bar watching on TV is also fun. Supporting the MiamiHeat in Boston is what I find more challenging. Last year at Game 7, I gotshoved and booed at.”

Isthere a place you visit to watch Hurricanes games in the city? Have you foundany other Hurricanes fans in Massachusetts?

“Thereis a University of Miami alumni bar in downtown Boston called ‘Lyr.’ It’s areally popular bar so it’s a lot of fun getting to go watch the games there. Igo with my other friends that went to Miami and meet other alumni there. I haveeven converted some of my friends to be Miami fans, like my roommate. He throwsup ‘the U’ more than I do!”

Howdo you support the Hurricanes – Any apartment decorations? Do you
have a favorite piece of Canes gear? Travel for games?

“Myapartment is covered in Miami gear and decorations. I have Miami glasses, mugs, shot glasses and pictures on the wall. My apartment is all about the U! As formy Canes gear, I’d have to say my favorite was the matching outfits that me andmy roommate wore to the FSU away game last year: Orange and green leg warmers, orange tights, Miami hoodies and those orange and green Miami snow hats withthe pom-poms on top.”

Anyfavorite memories or stories from your time as a Hurricanes basketball fan?

“Myfavorite memory of a basketball game was watching the FSU game at home lastyear and rushing the court after we won! That was definitely a great game.”
