Johnson Named AFC Player of the Month

NEW YORK — Houston Texans’ wide receiver Andre Johnson was recognized as AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November, the league office announced Thursday.

Over his four games in the month, Johnson totaled 35 catches for 614 yards (17.5 average) with one touchdown. In Week 11, Johnson had a career-best 14 receptions for 273 yards and a game-winning 48-yard touchdown catch in the Texans’ 43-37 overtime win over Jacksonville.

Less than a week later, Johnson recorded nine catches and 188 yards in a Thanksgiving win over Detroit. The tenth-year veteran totaled 461 receiving yards in back-to-back weeks, the highest total in a two-game span by any player in NFL history. Through Week 12, Johnson’s 1,058 receiving yardsrank third in the NFL and second in the conference.

Five ProCanes have been recognized as Player of the Week through 12 weeks of the regular season: Arizona Cardinals’ defensive end Calais Campbell (Week Two), Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Reggie Wayne (Week Five), New York Giants’ defensive back Antrel Rolle (Week Six), Miami Dolphins’ defensive end Olivier Vernon (Week Eight) and New Orleans Saints’ tight end Jimmy Graham (Week 10).

The award marks Johnson’s second career Offensive Player of the Month recognition (October 2008). To read the full release from the NFL, click HERE
